Promoting the Appointment of Women

Since 2003 the Economic Council has recommended and referred hundreds of qualified women for positions on state boards and commissions. Working directly with the Office of the Governor, the Council has established a process whereby capable, skilled female candidates are recommended for administrative board and commission posts.

The Governor makes appointments year-round, as openings occur. If you think you may be interested and qualified to serve as a volunteer on one of Tennessee's many boards and commissions, stay tuned to this page for regular updates on openings. In addition, those interested in serving on one or more boards should contact the Economic Council at info.ecw@tn.gov to initiate the submission process and to receive future updates by email. The Tennessee Economic Council on Women has been advised of openings on the State Boards & Commissions listed below. Though the vacancies listed will occur throughout the Summer, appointments are expected to be made in the Fall, and the application deadline for all of these openings is 12:00pm (noon), July 15, 2015.

August 2015 Board Vacancies

  • Air Pollution Control Board: Promulgates rules to govern ambient air quality standards, emission standards, and other regulations deemed necessary for the purpose of limiting air pollution in this state.
    Seats:
    2 current full-time employees with a private manufacturing concern. Must have a college degree in engineering or equivalent and 8 years of combined technical training and experience in air pollution abatement for either a Title 5 permit holder or a non-Title 5 permitted source in Tennessee.
